Elizabeth Blackwell Graduates
October 19, 1849

After she graduated, Blackwell went to London, England, to learn more about being a doctor. She came back to the United States in 1851 to start healing the sick, but no one would hire her. Elizabeth Blackwell, however, wouldn't take no for an answer and she started her own infirmary. If you know a woman doctor, ask her if she knows about Elizabeth Blackwell.
