Manmade Disasters
Some accidents happen because of a clash between man's inventions and nature. The horse and buggy accident, which was common in the early 1900s, is a good example of this. Horses get spooked easily, and when they are afraid of something, they often rear up, pull away, or start running. Sometimes when a horse was pulling a buggy and a car happened to come along the road the horse would get frightened and take off, overturning the buggy and the people in it. With the increase of automobiles on city and country roads, these accidents occurred more frequently.
